Oasis
Theatre
Now also known as Landmark Cinemas is a hidden gem in the heart Downtown Brooks!
This small town movie theatre was first established as Gaytey Theatre. After closing years ago, the Oasis Theatre became a church, but since 1995, has returned to being a movie theatre and has remained a hub for weekly entertainment.
The theatre only has one screen and shows one movie daily each week, which changes every Friday.
It's a must visit for young and old a like and grab a snack to go after the show!
Historic DOWNTOWN
Walking Tour
It all started Downtown!
The area that is now Brooks was used as a bison-hunting ground for the Blackfoot and Crow. After Treaty 7 was signed in 1877, homesteaders took advantage of the Dominion Lands Act to move into the area to begin farming. Before 1904, the area still did not have a name. Through a contest sponsored by the Postmaster General, the area was named after Noel Edgell Brooks, a Canadian Pacific Railway Divisional Engineer from Calgary. Brooks was incorporated as a village on July 14, 1910, and then as a town on September 8, 1911.
